Through a dedicated team of staff and volunteers, we are able to provide the following services: 

Day Care Centres 

We run four day centres offering personalised support to older adults who have health and mobility support needs including dementia.  The service is flexible, offers transport and lunch facilities, reducing isolation and encouraging friendships through a wide range of fun and interactive activities.

Support for Carers

Age concern Birmingham deliver the Birmingham Carers Hub as a partnership offering direct support to carers including statutory carer assessments. 

Handyman and Trusted Partner Services

Our in-house Community Handyperson can provide a home maintenance and repair service.  We also work with a variety of vetted quality tradespeople offering a full range of services.

Age Concern Birmingham also works in partnership with various organisations and can offer carers support, mobility equipment, bathroom adaptions, insurance, grant assistance, equity release advice and a free will service.

Advice and Information & Planning for Later Life 

We offer a range of advice and information including Will, Will reviews and LPA and legal support. The offer extends to mobility equipment, bathroom adaptions, insurances, grant assistance and equity release advice.

Befriending Services 

A small telephone and home visiting service through a team of committed volunteers. 

Communitea Café 

In the heart of Boldmere, this hub offers healthy food and drinks at a low cost and a place where the local community can meet and take part in a whole range of activities offered through volunteers, various organisations and partnerships.

Our “Communitea Too” located at Hawkesley Community Centre will be opening in 2020

Charity Shop 

Located in Boldmere, Sutton Coldfield. 

Registered Home Care and Domestic Service

Personal care services and professional home support. Through this service we offer support to people at End of Life in Sandwell and West Birmingham.

Community Centres 

We manage Hawkesley Community Centre, situated in Kings Norton and offers a diverse range of activities, ranging from arts and crafts to martial arts. We have spacious rooms for rent at competitive prices and are always looking to accommodate new activities.

Moorfield Community Centre is situated in Shard End and is a bright modern accessible ground floor spacious facility.  The facilities are available to hire at competitive rates and we are always looking to accommodate new activities for the community.

Age Concern Birmingham is proud to work in partnership with a number charities and organisations across the West Midlands and beyond. Our current live Projects are:

  • EldiCare
  • Micare, (both European Projects developing training packages to be used across Europe)
  • Age Better, delivering both the carers hub and city wide hub
  • Neighbourhood Network Schemes leading on the Sutton Coldfield area
  • Heritage Lottery developing a book of life stories
  • Fraud Awareness projects across the West Midlands
