Through a dedicated team of staff and volunteers, we are able to provide the following services:
Day Care Centres
All our Centres are open to the over 50’s and offer the opportunity to socialise with recreational and social activities in a local safe environment.
We offer the service from each of our 5 Day Care Centres, which have been established for over 14 years.
The service is offered in centres located across Birmingham or within the home and on various days of the week.
Connections Team
Our Connection team offer a range of free activities across Birmingham.
Our activities are a great opportunity to: meet new friends, learn new skills or revitalise old skills and get involved in your local community.
Activities range from jigsaw clubs, seated exercises, singing for wellbeing through to rock n roll exercise
Support for Carers
Age Concern Birmingham is a Delivery Partner of Birmingham Carers Hub a free service offering a range of support to unpaid family carers in Birmingham. You can access support if you only provide a couple of hours care a week and you do not need to be in receipt of carer benefits. We offer advice and support services for family carers registered with Birmingham Carers Hub.
We are also a part of the delivery team for the Dementia Carers Hub. With the expertise of our health professionals, trained advisors and welcoming group leads, you will be guided and supported throughout your caring journey. The Dementia Carers Hub team offers specialist advice and information, face-to-face and online support groups as well as dementia awareness sessions.
Planning for Later Life
We offer a range of advice and information including Will, Will reviews and LPA and later life support.
Befriending Services
We run Friends First a citywide project for over 50s. With Friendship groups running across the city we can support people to start to build their confidence and social network.
Communitea Café
In the heart of Boldmere, this café hub offers healthy food and drinks at a low cost and a place where the local community can meet and take part in a whole range of activities offered through volunteers, various organisations and partnerships.
Charity Shop
Located in Boldmere, Sutton Coldfield.
Registered Home Care and Domestic Service
Jubilee Citizens UK (JCUK) is a registered local charity working in partnership with Age Concern Birmingham to provide quality registered care and support, including domestic support within the home.
We are registered with the Care Quality Commission and offer a range of support in the form of personal care, domestic, shopping and cooking services, including companionship and sitting services, to support and enhance later life within the home.
Through this service we offer support to people at End of Life in Sandwell and West Birmingham.
Community Centres
We manage two community centres.
Hawkesley Community Centre, situated in Kings Norton and offers a diverse range of activities, ranging from arts and crafts to martial arts. We have spacious rooms for rent at competitive prices and are always looking to accommodate new activities. The centre has our second Communitea café which offers activities and support throughout the week. The café space can be used by any organisation offering suitable, free at point of delivery activities / support to the community.
Moorfield Hall Community Centre is situated in Shard End and is a bright modern accessible ground floor spacious facility. The facilities are available to hire at competitive rates and we are always looking to accommodate new activities for the community. Our community room has a schedule of activities. The room can be used by any organisation offering suitable, free at point of delivery activities / support to the community.
Age Concern Birmingham is also proud to work in partnership with a number charities and organisations across the West Midlands and beyond.
