Learning to Live with Loss

I was grieving the loss of five people all at once. It felt like a dagger and I knew it wasn’t right. I was crying a lot and felt really depressed. I was experiencing a lot of sadness and would weep a lot.

I wanted help to feel better. I wanted to be able to carry on with life without feeling the pain every day. I needed bereavement support and got given even more.

My counsellor was brilliant and gave me such useful coping techniques. I don’t have the dagger pain anymore. I can use my experience and the strategies I have been taught to help my dear friends who are experiencing bereavement too.

My counsellor told me to write a letter to the friend I lost that I didn’t get to say goodbye to. I have helped my friends do the same and it has helped us all. Now I feel so much better, thank you.

My relationship with my daughter is starting to improve as we are both determined to improve our mental health. Next, I want to help other people access support. You were truly amazing, thank you.

The counselling has given me time to really deal with the past so that I can move forward and improve my current mental health.
