When I first came for support, I was struggling deeply after the sudden loss of a close family member, alongside other major bereavements in my family. I felt like my life was pointless and I needed someone to talk to who would not judge me.
The support gave me that space. I was listened to, supported, and helped to find ways to cope with the pain and guilt I was carrying. The support helped me understand that some things were beyond my control and reminded me that I was still coping, even when I didn’t feel like I was.
I still miss that person every day, but I have a greater understanding now of what my grief is and how to carry it. I know I still have to keep going and keep making memories with the people still around me. There is not enough support like this, and I am just so grateful for the help I have had.
The support has helped me through my worst days and I am incredibly thankful for that.
From October 2024 to the end of March 2026 we delivered flexible, community-based therapeutic support to Sandwell adults experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma and bereavement.
