Putting ESOL learning into practice

I’m from Bangladesh. I arrived in the UK on a work visa with my two-year-old son and spouse. When I arrived, the biggest issue was communication skills. I studied English in my own country, but it was very different from here, so my confidence dropped, and I got extremely nervous. I was a homemaker in my home country, and this was my first employment, and I was seeking moral support. I went to the Bangladeshi Women Association (BWA). I was welcomed and referred to the ESOL Health and Wellbeing class, where I met Rashpal, a lovely mentor and teacher. I gained emotional support, practiced my language skills, and made new friends. Since then, I have been offered training in Peterborough and I will miss BWA, but I have gained a lot of skills and confidence in a very short time which will help me adjust and make new friends again. Huge thanks to BWA and WDH Sandwell for supporting me throughout the journey.
